Packnatur® Grip Protection Netting

for Cardboard Packaging on Horizontal Net-Clipping Machines
Packnatur® Cellulose Tube Netting has become an integral part of the fruit and vegetable sections of domestic and international supermarkets. More and more product categories are being switched to this sustainable and compostable packaging made from beech wood. This includes fruit and vegetables, which is sold in trays and provided with a protective net for better handling and further protection of their contents.

Packaging organic food in plastic seems almost absurd at this point. However, there are still some packaging options, especially in the area of combined packaging, that continue to rely on environmentally harmful materials. For such cases, Packnatur GmbH has developed a cellulose-based solution: grip protection netting. Available in a variety of colors, this netting is not only sustainable and compostable but also highlights the contents beautifully, giving the consumer a comprehensive opportunity for quality control. Compared to perforated cardboard packaging, this solution significantly reduces material usage.

‘As always, we are sticking to our tried-and-tested concept of making it as easy as possible for the packaging company. The Packnatur® Grip Protection Netting can be used on any horizontal net-packaging machine, ideally in combination with pulp trays or cardboard trays. A wineglass label can be clipped on immediately to comply with labelling requirements. We are also flexible in terms of diameter and mesh size, which means that any type of fruit and vegetables can be packed,’ says Markus Kainer, CSO at Packnatur GmbH.

Demand is certainly proving the concept right. So hopefully it won’t be long before this plastic packaging variation is a thing of the past once and for all.
